"It's about how they think they know everything about me, when they don't. They want to be a fly on my wall and watch me 24/7," she said concerning the theme behind the song.

GRANDMASTER FLASH, NEW YORK DOLLS, RACONTEURS
[Aversion, 12/6/08]
After a 20-year silence, hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash is ready to return. The hip-hop granddaddy will make his return in February with The Bridge: The Concept of a Culture. The album, his first since 1988, contains guest appearances by Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes . . .Before The New York Dolls got all old and dead, they could really rock. The proto-punk band tears into its classic "Personality Crisis" live in the studio for The Midnight Special. The clip's from the show's first season in 1973, and features most of the band's classic lineup, save bassist Arthur Kane who was sidelined with a broken arm. . . .The Raconteurs recently got their country on the studio with Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe, and have the video to prove it. Jack White and the boys teamed with the contemporary country artists to record a bluegrass-ified version of "Old Enough," which originally appeared on this year's Consolers of the Lonely (Third Man/Warner Bros.). Can you say sniffing for a crossover hit?

BARRINGTON LEVY "NO WAR" feat. BUSTA RYHMES AND KARDINAL OFFISHALL AUDIO
[YardFlex, 12/6/08]
Barrington “Shuddli-Waddli-Didli-Oh” Levy, boasts of being the first Jamaican singer to have three rappers featured in one song, and in line with this achievement, the reggae icon is proud of his latest release, “No War”. Collaborating with Busta Rhymes and T-Dot top shot rapper Kardinal Offishall on this blazing track, Levy takes his musical gift to levels that do nothing other than rock you. Levy told Yardflex recently of his linking with ‘Busta’ and ‘Kardi’ and the energetic artist, known for constantly working hard, said it was a natural creative attraction. He said, “I was at a show in New Jersey, when Foxy Brown called up Busta to come to the club. After the show he asked me to sing a song and then right away he said let’s go to studio…” The historical remainder of the tale is the hard hitting conclusion – that is, “No War.” Previous collaborations by the avid musically driven entrepreneur, who stands firm by his words in what became almost a ‘motto’ for the world, “Every Posse Must Work,” have been with rappers like: Snoop Dogg, Bounty Killer and Lil Wayne. Mr. “Broader Than Broadway” has a catalogue loaded with hits and whenever he performs fans bask in the sheer pleasure. The veteran, who is certainly solidly prime, is set to release a new album titled, “Its About Time”, while preparing also to bring his sweet sounds to Honolulu, Hawaii and Maui in the near future.

"It will be shameless/Cuz everyone knows this is how you get famous." On "It's Not Me, It's You" itself, Lily said, "We decided to try and make bigger-sounding, more ethereal songs, real songs." Noting that the album, due for U.K. release on February 9, 2009, will have jazz, country, and dance music sounds, she added, "I wanted to work with one person from start to finish to make it one body of work. I wanted it to feel like it had some sort of integrity. I think I've grown up a bit as a person, and I hope it reflects that."

WHITE ZOMBIE "LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE" 4 CD/1 DVD COLLECTION
[Reuters/Billboard, 11/22/08]
Assembling the White Zombie boxed set "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" was "weird" and somewhat bittersweet for band founder Rob Zombie. "It felt like I was putting together a box set of someone else's band. It just seemed like forever ago, and some of the early songs are, like, 20 years ago or something," he told Billboard. The four-CD, one-DVD collection includes 63 tracks and a wealth of rare video footage and other memorabilia Zombie has held onto. The process "brought up a lot of things I'd forgotten about -- unfortunately, some of it was negative," he said. In particular he was reminded of the waning days of the heavy metal band, when group members would tour in separate vehicles and not see each other except at shows. None of the other members were involved in putting together the compilation. "The main reason White Zombie ended was the people who were White Zombie didn't get along anymore," Zombie said, adding that he finished the group's final show in 1996, walked offstage, into a car, went to the airport and "didn't look back." Nevertheless, he hopes "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" -- pointedly titled, he acknowledged, for those who might wonder about a White Zombie reunion -- will feed the appetites of younger generations of fans. "I can see it, strangely enough, in the royalty checks. Every year the band makes more money," Zombie said. "Hot Topic is doing a new line of White Zombie merch. It's just one of those things that happens, I think. There's always a new wave of kids that gets super-jazzed on a band that's not around anymore."

The track comes off Solange's second studio album "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams", which has come out in North America since August 26 via Music World and Geffen Records. "By the end of the project [Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams], I had worked with all of the producers and artists I had ever dreamed of including Q-Tip, Boards of Canada, and Mark Ronson ..." WEB DEBUT FOR GUNS N' ROSES ALBUM
[BBC, 11/21/08]
Guns N' Roses have launched their new album on MySpace, days ahead of its release in shops. Chinese Democracy, the U.S rock band's first album in 15 years, will not be available to buy until Monday, November 24. But fans can hear the album on the band's MySpace page. They are one of the highest-profile acts to use the site to launch a record. The band's last record, their covers collection The Spaghetti Incident?, came out in 1993. Since then, tension among members has led to all the original performers except frontman Axl Rose leaving. Most of the tracks from Chinese Democracy have already been heard in various ways, with Shackler's Revenge appearing on the soundtrack of video game Rock Band 2. Last month a man pleaded not guilty to breaking copyright laws at a Los Angeles court after he was accused of distributing nine tracks on his website. The album is released in the U.S on Sunday, November 23 in an exclusive tie-up with an electronics chain.

BROADWAY'S "MADAME DEFARGE", NATALIE TORO TO RELEASE SOLO ALBUM
[Playbill, 11/8/08]
The 12-track disc, available Nov. 23 on natalietoro.com and cdbaby.com, will include the work of a handful of New York's hottest arrangers. Toro calls the new recording "a Broadway CD with a twist." "Sometimes when I listen to solo discs there is a sameness to the sound because only one arranger is used," Toro told Playbill. She said the album will have a handcrafted feel because she collaborated with seven different arrangers. "I was able to sit with each arranger and talk about my ideas," Toro said. Don't expect standard-issue versions of Broadway classics. "Something's Coming" from West Side Story, for example, has an Andrews Sisters vibe to it, as arranged by David Loud (with Toro tripling her voice); and arranger Chino Nuρez brings a contemporary New York City street soundscape to Stephen Sondheim's "Another Hundred People" (expect car horns, crowds and more). Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (Shrek) duets with Toro on a bonus track that re-creates the Barbra Streisand/Judy Garland duet of "Happy Days Are Here Again"/"Get Happy." Matt Perri did the arrangement. For fans of A Tale of Two Cities, Toro recorded Ed Kessel's arrangement of "Out of Sight, Out of Mind," her big number from the romantic historical musical (with songs by Jill Santoriello), which closes on Broadway Nov. 16. A release party for the disc will be held 7:30 PM Nov. 23, 2008 at Canal Room at Canal and West Broadway in the East Village. Toro will sing a selection of songs from the CD (titled "Natalie Toro"), and sign discs. There is no cover charge, and the first 50 guests receive a free drink. Toro has appeared in Broadway's Les Misιrables and Madison Square Garden's A Christmas Carol musical. Other credits include Zombie Prom (Off-Broadway), the national tours of Evita (20th anniversary tour, Jeff Award nomination), Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar and regional productions of The Fix, Everything's Ducky, Francis of Guernica, Blood Brothers and Zorba.
